Copenhagen Spirit Portraits
In Focus: Nicklas Hemming Johansen
Copenhagen is more than a place. It is a feeling shaped by creative minds, quiet rituals, craftsmanship, and human connection. We feature local creatives who inspire us through the way they see, live, and move through the city.

“
Copenhagen allows me to observe, reflect, and disappear into small moments of beauty. It’s a place I continuously return to for inspiration and presence.
What Inspires You About Copenhagen?
I’m inspired by Copenhagen’s old facades, harbours, bridges, and traces of craftsmanship that carry history with dignity. The city feels most inspiring in the early mornings, when the streets are calm and the light slowly transforms the buildings.
Favourite Season:
I’m most inspired during the quieter seasons, when the city slows down and the changing light brings out the textures, colours, and atmosphere of Copenhagen.
Copenhagen in Three Words:
Quiet. Honest. Atmospheric.
“
Beauty feels more honest when it’s imperfect.
“
I’m especially drawn to Christianshavn and the canal corner between Overgaden Neden Vandet and Sankt Annæ Gade, where I like to follow the movement of the sun throughout the day.
